How to Block Websites with BrowseControl Web Filtering Software

How to Block Websites using BrowseControl

On the Manager’s computer, install the CurrentWare Console (Click here to download) Manager Controlling Internet access using Web filtering Software

  1. Run the CurrentWare.exe setup file
  2. Select BrowseControl and Category Filtering
  3. The Installer will proceed to install the CurrentWare Server, Console and BrowseControl onto your computer
On the employee’s computers, install the CurrentWare Clients (Click here to download) How to control employee Internet activities
  1. Take the CurrentWare Client setup file, cwClient.exe, and run it locally on each computer you want to control the Internet. You may want to put the setup file on a USB key or on your network drive for easy access.
  2. The installer will ask you for the computer name of the CurrentWare Console to establish a connection.
  3. After the CurrentWare Client is installed, it will connect to your CurrentWare Console and show up on the computer list.
  4. Repeat step 1-3 on all the computers you want to control the Internet.
Go back on the CurrentWare Console, create a new folder and put your computers into it.

Follow the instruction below to apply the Internet restrictions that you prefer.

To block Facebook

  1. Set “Internet” to “On”
  2. Go to “URL Filter”
  3. Add “facebook.com” to the Blocked List

To allow only a few authorized websites

  1. Set “Internet” to “Off”
  2. Go to “URL Filter”
  3. Add the allowed websites to the Allowed List

  1. Set “Internet” to “On”
  2. Go to “Category Filtering”
  3. Add “Social Media” to the Blocked Category List
